65% of Queensland’s total economic cost of disasters has been attributable to Flooding events
Queensland’s total economic cost of disasters has been attributable to:
• 65% Flooding
• 25% Cyclones
• 6% Hail
• 4% Storm
In 2011-12 alone rebuilding after the Queensland floods and cyclones cost the state government an estimated $7.1 billion
Today, based on the history of natural disaster events over the last 50 years, the total economic cost of natural disasters in Queensland is estimated to be $6.2bn
The total economic cost of natural disasters in Queensland will reach $18 bn a year by 2050
